Weekend Premier League Predictions

Aston Villa Vs Everton

The Toffees kicked off the new season against Chelsea in an unfortunate defeat that saw them gift a penalty in a 1-0 defeat at home. Frank Lampard’s side has since taken another injury blow that will sideline Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey. Two new signings in Conor Coady and Onana could bolster them ahead of this away fixture though it is yet to be seen.

The hosts will be looking to bounce back from their defeat away at Bournemouth with Gerrard needing to get one over his former England team mate.

Tip: Home Win

Arsenal Vs Leicester

With an excellent start in their Premier League curtain raiser, Paul Merson expects his former club to carry on with the form they have been on and manage Leicester this coming weekend. He furthermore expects a 3-0 win over the foxes, however with the opponents being a formidable side I’d expect a tight game.

Unfortunate to lose a 2-0 lead in their opener to end up splitting the points in half with Brentford seemingly proving their fragility in the defense. If the gunners were to start off as they did at Selhurst Park, they could dictate the rhythm of the game to the end.

At the Emirates, the gunners should ease past their opponents to bag the three points though it remains to be seen. Prediction: 4-0 Home Win.

Brentford Vs Manchester United

With Ten Hag having a poor start of his PL career against Brighton, he will be looking to rally his side to a win against the Bees. This may come tough as he chooses his starting lineup, however, with Ronaldo getting minutes in his legs against Brighton, it could prove optimism for the fans and his side as their current top scorer to push them through this fixture.

Brentford’s resilience with their fans behind them at home could give them the boost to make it difficult for the travelling side. Frank’s side is stacked and Defender Kristoffer Ajer and winger Sergi Canos are both expected to return. Last weekend’s 4-3-3 formation saw their attacking shape bolster their comeback however, with the Red devils already stung once, this could end in a Draw/Under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea Vs Tottenham

A London derby in the second week of the PL is going to be a good start for the fresh and fit opponents. Sterling will be looking to keep his position on the left wing after a good performance against the Toffees. Newly-signed Cucurella will be ready to gain a foothold in the first team and make his mark against Spurs.

Tottenham on the other side have began the campaign in a strong position with Conte’s side easing past Southampton in a 4-1 win last weekend. Travelling to the bridge is however, a different beast in itself and could be a good test for them. With the striker partnership of Kane and Son yet to open their goal account, they will be up to grab the headlines.

Prediction: 2-2 Draw

Premier League is Back!

Arsenal appropriately made the opener they so well deserved with a massive win away against their fellow Londoners- Crystal Palace. With the pre-season they had, no one had a doubt as to how they would turn up at the Selhurst Park and give a good account of their pre-season forte. After a mouth watering 6-0 thrashing of Sevilla in the Emirates cup, the young gunners sweetened the league curtain-raiser with a two-goal win. A clean sheet and a man of the match for the debutant- William Saliba to top it all off.

Newly promoted Fulham welcomed Liverpool to the Craven Cottage for an early kickoff as the visitors were forced to secure a point against the all firing Mitrovic with a late Salah equalizer. Welcome to the premier league! Tottenham eased past Soton with a 4-1 thrashing while newly promoted Nottingham Forrest got a beating away at Newcastle United.

The late kickoff saw Chelsea travel down to Merseyside as they played against Everton in a tough fixture that either side looked ready to split the points equally. A late challenge from Everton’s Doucoure brought down Ben Chilwell gifting a penalty to the blues with Jorginho swiftly sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0 is how it ended.

With more fixtures scheduled for this Sunday, it seemingly goes to show how well prepared these teams are. Manchester United currently two goals down against the visitors- Brighton only adds pain to injury with their ending fixture last season. Leicester on the other hand have a tougher opponent in Brentford and will be counting on the likes of Vardy to add more in their current 2-1 lead at home.

The defending champions- Manchester City will travel to London stadium as they start the new campaign against West Ham United.

It’s safe to say, the Premier League is back!
